In this first of a two-part series led by Matt Friend, Head of Account Based Payments Strategy & Advocacy, JPMorganChase, we begin by outlining what transaction tagging is, then share the journey to gaining insights into Pay by Bank-highlighting the initial challenges faced due to limited data. We discuss leveraging transaction tagging to enrich ACH debits and examine key findings, such as aggregator-enabled transactions growing 18x since 2021. We also highlight the increased claims observed in higher-risk use cases (e.g., purchase and wallet funding transactions), which see 3-4x more claims than traditional ACH debit FI transfers or BillPay payments.
We conclude with a preview of the next session and share additional data-driven findings that further illustrate the operational and risk insights revealed through transaction tagging. Plan to join us for part 2, which is scheduled for June 3 at 11:30 am CT / 12:30 pm ET.
